Very rare story present: I bought this for $3 from a vendor in a tiny antiquarian store in May 2021. I guess he didn't know what he had. Completely silent, VG++ copy. No hyperbole, ane of the all-time sounding records in my drove. I've got a agglomeration of Tone Poets, MMJ, AP and MOFI pressings (they are all great) but this is something otherworldly. I really jumped when Pee Wee Marquette started introducing the band, he's correct in the room. Clifford Dark-brown is phenomenal on this.

I had three Japanese vintage editions of this album at the same time, one PROMO, but in comparison with this edition of the Immortal Masterpiece Selection series, all of them were not fifty-fifty shut in sound.

I believe this is actually a mono press and not stereo as listed in the description.

A very loud record but with decent detail none the less. The introduction at the start is specially agreeable. Get this clean and you will have a dainty live record experience. If you want studio fidelity this might non offering quite that cleanliness, but it however lets most players exist heard, although Pianoforte and Bass are the ones getting the shortest end of the stick.

my copy is highly warped from the center. i dont become this 75th reissues suck, full of problems, i normally purchase european copies and complain nearly them, but this US version really suck. audio is almost OK, a footling fleck high, but this warp, oh my this warp. attempt to find other copies, from the early 80s or 70s, which besides has a meliorate cover imho.

Art Blakey is i of the well-nigh of import figures in Jazz, 2nd only to Miles Davis in bringing through prodigious new talent. Along with Horace Silvery he was i of the foremost pioneers of the Hard Bop idiom. This ensemble, which is a forerunner of his Jazz Messengers who produced so many future stars, is specially strong. It's i of the best examples of Clifford Brown's work, is an splendid document of a live operation from the time, and is a classic album that belongs in every serious Jazz collection. The CD contains two bonus tracks, and I'one thousand particularly fond of "Blues" which perfectly captures Lou Donaldson'southward soulful blowing skills.
